Ticket Refund and Rescheduling Policy

Japan Shinkansen provides online railway ticket reservation services as an independent train ticket agent. Refund and change availability depends on ticket status, railway rules, departure time, payment-provider processing, and whether the ticket has already been issued or used.

How to Request a Refund or Change

  1. Open the Orders page on japanshinkansen.net.
  2. Enter your order number and email address to view the order.
  3. Use the available refund or change option, or contact support if the option is not shown.

Before Ticket Confirmation

If the reservation has not yet been confirmed or issued, we will review the request and cancel or adjust the order where possible. If the requested train cannot be secured, we may offer an alternative or arrange a refund according to the order status.

After Ticket Confirmation

Once a ticket has been confirmed or issued, refunds and changes may be restricted by railway rules, ticket type, departure time, and supplier conditions. Some service fees, payment processing fees, or already-incurred costs may be non-refundable unless local law requires otherwise.

Refund Timing

After we approve a refund request, we submit the refund through the original payment channel where possible. Bank or payment-provider processing may take several business days, and in some cases longer depending on the issuing bank.

Missed Trains and Service Disruptions

If you miss a train or encounter a station issue, please follow station staff guidance first. We can assist with order records and general support, but transport operations are controlled by the railway operator.
